    Uk tour?!

Following Dave's comments on the Opie show today, looks like it could finally happen!

Only a 29 year wait in the uk to see Dave and Ed on the same stage again! Here's hoping they play venues the size of Hammersmith and do a FULL uk tour!

The mighty Van Halen are getting back into action after Eddie Van Halen was sidelined by emergency surgery last year. According to front man David Lee Roth, the powerhouse rock group will perform a long string of dates in Europe toward the end of the year.

The loquacious performer revealed the news on the Opie & Anthony Show Monday morning (March 11). “We’re going to be playing Europe — probably 50, 60 shows outside of the States, starting at the end of this year, and then come back around through the US,” he said. Any return to the US is likely to be next year — there are no plans for North America in 2013 outside of an appearance at the Rock USA festival that the singer said only happened by accident.

“I’m frankly surprised that these happened now,” he asserted. “I think probably they had designs on somebody else, and somebody else got sick. ‘Cause y’know, we’re kind of here to save the day. These are big shows — these are like 50-70,000-person shows. And they’re just coming together fast, which says probably somebody else bowed out or somebody else took ill.”

The irrepressible singer was as enthusiastic as ever when it comes to talking about the upcoming shows. “Van Halen is very pure and uncut kinda music,” he raved. “It’s a little like getting drunk on shots of really good Kentucky bourbon. It’s like, you’ll have a great night — but you probably won’t want to see us again for three years!”

David Lee Roth Says The Band Will Perform "50-60 Shows Outside Of The US" Later This Year

VAN HALEN singer David Lee Roth appeared on the Opie & Anthony show this
morning and revealed that the band is going to be playing Europe in 2013.

"Probably 50-60 shows outside of the United States starting at the end
of this year and then come back around the US," says Diamond Dave. "Van
Halen is kind of pure and uncut kind of music; it's leads, bass, drums
and howling at the moon. It's a little bit like getting drunk on shots
of really good Kentucky bourbon. You'll have a great night but you
probably won't want to see us again for three years."

Wolfgang Van Halen - "I love being a bass player. It’s just me and Al — a groove section. Just boom, boom, boom, and we’re good". GW
    ---
Edward Van Halen - "What is next for Wolf is the next record and the next tour. He’s no different than I am. Music is his life. If he goes back to school, I’ll probably go with him.” GC

    BFD.

    A bunch of dates over-seas...
Nothing even remotely on the horizon until probably late 2014.
Maybe a new album in 2016, most likely not.
Lots of candid shots with Scott from Creed, a bunch of cancelled dates...

We know how the story ends.

Two things I come away with from that:

    1. Why is Dave dressed like my granddad?

    2. How many shows is Jim Florentine on?

I wish I could talk to Dave. It always feels like he's talking to people who don't know anything about him except the couple of songs they hear on the radio. But on the other hand they're talking to 20 different people a week, so I guess they can't be experts on everybody. I'd probably start asking him questions in such detail he'd freak out and leave the room.

SLOW IT DOWN NOW....... LOL OH HOW THE GAS PEDAL CHANGES HOUR TO HOUR WITH THIS BAND LOL

Van Halen European Tour Not Happening, Says Irving Azoff

Comments by Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth that the band will tour Europe beginning late this year are incorrect, according to Irving Azoff, manager for founders Alex and Eddie Van Halen and bassist Wolfgang Van Halen.

In comments picked up by multiple media outlets, Roth said on the Sirius Opie & Anthony radio show yesterday that Van Halen were “going to be playing Europe — probably 50 or 60 shows starting at the end of this year.”

Azoff begs to differ. “All the announced dates, which include the date in Australia, the dates in Japan and a date in Wisconsin, are confirmed and on sale and those are real,” Azoff tells Billboard exclusively. “I manage the Van Halens, and I know nothing about any European tour.”

While he wasn’t sure what Roth was talking about, Azoff confirms that Roth will indeed front the band that will play the scheduled dates, which include the Stone Music Festival in Sydney on April 20; June 21 at the Tokyo Dome, and June 24 and 26 at Osaka’s City Central Gymnasium.

Van Halen will also headline the final night of Rock USA festival July 20 at Ford Festival Park in Oshkosh, Wis.

The band played 46 shows last year and grossed $54 million, with attendance of 522,296, according to Billboard Boxscore, eighth among all touring acts for the year.

On the recording front, Wolfgang Van Halen recently told Billboard that the group is open to following up 2012′s “A Different Kind of Truth,” which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in February.

“Oh yeah, there’s plenty of other ideas laying around, and some new stuff that we’ve been working on, too,” Van Halen says. “You never know what’ll happen.”
