Any and all Ibanez Jem and Universe guitars, most notably the BSB Jem. Not a Vai fan, but I LOOOOVE the guitars. Maybe a few of the Bernie Rico guitars as well, they look mean!!!

    I've always wanted an ESP.

Even when Charvel was happening, ESP was like the next level.
My friend, Joe Stump, had a yellow ESP strat, that was the best playing strat-type guitar, i
    have ever played.
    The neck was flawless.
The sound was better than i had ever sounded.
    It was light, too.

My other friend, Chris, had an ESP Horizon.
That, too, played like a dream.

My bud, Paul, had an actual Lynch Kamikaze (not an LTD), and i hated that thing.
It was the heaviest guitar i had ever played, and the neck felt strange.
He rarely played that thing, just used his Ibanez RG, though he claimed the Kamikaze was
    his "baby."

Back in '83, i played my friend's red Ibanez Destroyer.
That guitar, despite the body shape, felt so comfortable somehow.
The neck was great, the pickups were stellar.

    I never forgot that guitar.

I remember he learned the solo to Bryan Adam's "One night love affair" on it.

I haven't played enough guitars to know exactly what i would like for my perfect guitar to be.

When i was starting out playing guitar i wanted a Les Paul so bad, I cant afford a Gibson but now that's it possible to get LP copies (not counterfeits!) i havent even made the effort. At the same time I wasn't a fan of strats (single coils) so i gravitated towards the superstrat shape (the pointier Jackson style) but then suddenly i flip flopped once i discovered I could get strats with HBs and right now i would say the regular strat body shape is my favorite.
I rarely use the neck pup though i own 2 guitars that have both HB in the neck and bridge. I also never used the tone knob so for me it's either 1 or 2 volumes and no tone.
Right now ive got a Jackson style V, 2 Charvel style strats and a custom EVH Wolfgang Special and there are a few other styles on my wish list.

There's more than one dream guitar i'd want , so i'll focus on some existing and then custom instruments .

Steve Vai Jem 777 - yellow , pyramid inlays on a maple fret board .
Sambora Fender strat 1991 - PAF pro in the bridge , Floyd Rose , star inlays and mid boost switch .
George Lynch - J Frogg skull and bones guitar .
EVH EBMM - trans purple quilt

    Custom guitar #1 ;

Strat style alder body (arctic white), maple neck and fret board , 22 jumbo stainless steel frets , PAF Pro bridge humbucker , Duncan 59 neck pickup , Original Floyd Rose (flush mounted) with D-tuna . Separate volume and tone controls and a 3 way switch . Strap locks for sure . Chrome hardware .

    #2 ;

EVH EBMM body out of basswood (trans purple quilt) , 22 jumbo frets (as above)on a maple/maple neck , Original Floyd Rose (ditto) , same electronics as above . I'd possibly have a sustainer pickup in the neck with needed controls .

I know you like ESP guitars , UG .
Good call - they're great playing axes .

I think i have a pic of my (gasp!) Sambora sig ESP guitar on my profile .
It's the import model , but a great playing guitar . Wired the same way as a Les Paul but with a Floyd Rose .

I don't want any ESP anymore...

It's funny, i slammed Sambora and you Slammed Akira from Loudness, yet both were proud (Akira still is) ESP
    endorsees and players.

Sambo played a Kramer too, back in the slippery days.
I remember he used a Floyd equipped Les Paul, during the "in and out of love" (Faherenheit?) record.
