A Rock Concert Stage Design Site, pretty cool.

The Stones in 75, and Kiss 76. I didn't realize what the whole KISS stage looked like.

It can't be "Van Halen" without Roth, any more than it can be "Van Halen" without Eddie.

There is a link to another site for a design company at the bottom of the page.

    VAN HALEN IS CHEAP.
It can't be "Van Halen" without Roth, any more than it can be "Van Halen" without Eddie.

I think this site needs some strong voices.

With just a glance-through of these pics, it is just all too clear. KISS hadn't even had a platinum album yet in 1975, and look at that stage. Look at U2's stage, it looks like Las Vegas! Try to spin it any way you want, Van Halen's stage looks like something you would take on the state fair circuit. Dave knows it - if you want to be perceived as a mega band, you have to look like one.

I was referring to the latest tour. The '04 stage is on there, and it looks cool (relatively).

If the 2012 stage were pictured on that site, it would look woefully out of place. I have seen some posts about "the new stage harkens back to the club days". That is a load of shit. They aren't playing a club, where everyone has a good seat, and the sound can be good for all. They are playing arenas, where a certain standard is expected when you charge $150 to get in. The Stones 50th anniversary stage looks great, and there really isn't that much more than a screen. The designer just knew that if you "frame" the screen, it works like a window, and adds depth to the stage. Van halen's just kinda looks like you are watching a movie behind the band.

Seriously, it sucks, and all the contrarians out there that keep trying to spin it any other way sound like apologists (remember when Roth said that about the lame packaging without any photos for the greatest hits record? "What's next, will it come with an apology?"). I think that could be applied to the staging for this tour.

    Cool

They all look bigger in the pictures. The stages are not that spectacular, it's just the photography that makes it look so cool. Like the inside picture of Alive 2. I have a lot of Kiss video, and you can see it is no big deal.

Nowdays, same thing, just a little bigger with a jumbotron.

Cool stuff though. I love Kiss too.

Yep, so let's not hear you complain if a certain someone relentlessly cheerleads the new album! That's what you want, right? Unless it's your criticism, then it's a "strong voice."
