The bigger question is whether or not Ed will be bring this back in 13/14

If not maybe he can get a humbucker that smokes and catches on fire.

[QUOTE=Jungle Drummer;323318]Dont get me wrong, I really do like Bissonette. He is a great player, and I like Dave's solo stuff. But Al is on a short list of drummer's who have been able to create a unique and instantly recognize AND style. I dont put Bissonette in the same class, either as a "performer" or as a player.

I remember that, believe it was '91. I'm sure it had to be a pretty cool deal for him to be honored along side one of his biggest influences, Ginger Baker.

    Cool

Yup, he was in pretty good company back then in '91.

If that photo was taken nowdays, Dave Grohl would of weaseled his way into the picture.

Yup. It would be Al flanked by Grohl and that douchebag from the Black Keys!

This is something Eddie didn't write, back when the mighty Van Halen split up!

Yup, I get why the band felt compelled to play Sammy solo tunes when he joined, but I just dont envision any scenario where the band would play a Dave tune. It's essentially the same thing as the band trying to force Dave to sing a Van Hagar song. Never gonna happen.

I don't think they'd be able to choose "Shy Boy", as there's no way Wolfgang could handle Billy Sheehan's playing on that one. It'd have to be something with a more by-the-books bass line, like "Goin' Crazy", "Ladies' Night in Buffalo", or "Skyscraper".

You did get one part right, though: the crowd WOULD go crazy at hearing the band try something new.
"I am not one of those weak-spirited, sappy Americans who want to be liked by all the people around them. I donít care if people hate my guts; I assume most of them do. The important question is whether they are in a position to do anything about it. My affections, being concentrated over a few people, are not spread all over Hell in a vile attempt to placate sulky, worthless shits."

I don't think the crowd would know what the song was.

"Shyboy" always reminded me of one of those Mike Varney deals, where the actual foundation
of the "song" is only there to set up the chops fest.

With Eddie, his chops were the icing on the cake (the cake being a great tune).

I don't think Eddie looks at guys like Vai or Yngwie, and thinks, "Wow, they are so impressive!"

I think Eddie is more old school, in that he views the song as a whole, and he gets to add color to it.

I agree, and it's why so many of Ed's solos are not really all that long, but they are perfectly suited to and placed within their given song.
