Aha! A rosewood neck, which was not used on Fender guitars until the `60's. (Never noticed he had put a humbucker in that one, either.) I'll have to find wherever I read that; probably in the Guitar Player Masters of Heavy Metal book. Ed does have a plethora of collectible vintage guitars we've never even seen, though.

i always like seeing the old photos of Ed's guitars and their transformations !
thanks to jimi for the pics and the info .

for some reason , i really like the last shot of Ed at the Cabo Wabo opening . neat to see him on a bare bones strat at that point , and i like the ponytail bangs .
of course this was several years before the samauri look would be a signal that Ed was in trainwreck mode ...

    yeah , i know !
actualy i noticed that a long time ago , but forgot about it . i wonder if Ed bought the guitar that way , or had modified it himself ? i remember that GW issue from way back when , where it had a look at some of Ed's rare guitars . there was a guy who would comb the world for certain guitars he felt might prove useful to Eddie's pallette .

the Tele neck on a Strat body seems kinda different but cool !
i wonder if the electronics are intact ? i could never get used to the position of the volume pot on a typical Strat . i liked (and still do) Ed's trick of moving it a bit farther away , as to not hit it while picking or strumming .

i didn't say that Ed was the first to do it though , only that it was different . cool shot of JH , by the way ...

there's another question i have for some of the guitar buffs on here . sorry if this has been brought up before .

what happened to the Snake guitar that Eddie had , and have there ever been any replicas made ?
i remember looking into buying a J Frogg copy of Lynch's skull and bones guitar , and wondering about a hot rodded Snake axe too ...

One of my favorite of Ed's axes. Wasnt it given to him as a gift by the guy who made it? Surely, he must still own it.

i thought i read the same thing : that it was a gift by the maker of it ?

to me it would seem odd if Eddie didn't have that guitar somewhere in the vaults ... his painted and striped guitars have come and gone , as well as being mixed and matched over the years , but the Snake was a thing of beauty !

I love it! I saw some footage of him actually playing it in '79, I think on here, and I cant imagine he would part with it or change it, being as it was a gift from someone. Someday, I wish he would actually bring a bunch of his old classic guitars out and play them live, even for just one show! Would be perfect for a filmed, live DVD!
