Charvel Socal using Blackbelts from Motorcity pickups.

I have been playing my new 2009 USA Charvel socal that i installed blackbelts into ( not second degree )

    I did a quick clip through a 50w Mod5 amp build for a client.

I'm still getting used to the guitar and having a Floyd again! weeeeeee!

    Wow, that sounded sick!

I love those SoCal Charvels, i think they are only made in Japan now.

For those that are interested here is the same amp using my ash strat that has a dimarzio super distortion pickup in it.

Yep, in 2010, I think it was, they moved all the production to Japan. One way to tell a new Japanese one from a USA one, besides that it says it on the headstock, is that the new ones don't have pickup rings, which looks a little weird on the non-pickguard San Dimas models, to my eye. The Japanese ones come with a hard case, though, while the USA ones came with a gig bag.

Both clips are ridiculously good, Mark! I do, however, have a slight preference for the ash/DSD combo... either way, I really have to break down and get one of your amps!

I do prefer your ash strat/DSD clips as well...I think the standard strat bridge sounds tighter and better than the Floyd. Amp still sounds great!

    Thanks!

the guitar wood and even the neck wood just as much as the body that contributes to the tone. the Charvel has a very soft sound - not tight and punchy. the ash strat just has a better tone for VH.
