I wasn't implying it was a bad guitar, just explaining Ed's side of it (or my perception of his side of it).

I sold a really nice Sangean, high-end radio on eBay.
In my listing, i added the manufacturers Bose & Boston Acoustics, to draw attention to my auction (and drum up more interest).
I got some angry responses, accusing me of misleading folks.
I wasn't, i was merely trying to advertise a similar type brand, that is lesser known.

    eBay said: NO!

I understand what you're saying, unchained.
    I honestly didn't mean to mis-lead anyone.
The guitar was built and painted in the style of EVH.
It's not a replica. It's more of an EVH "concept" guitar.
My own rendition. My own design.

Unfortunately, it really only appeals to EVH fans so listing it on eBay as a "camouflaged guitar" really doesn't do the guitar, or my efforts any justice.

I may re-list it one day but for now ... I think I did the right thing by removing it.

You should list it, but make sure you have a reserve price.
I still find a ton of EVH related guitars on eBay, but people list it under "custom" or something similar.
Guitar nuts WILL find your guitar, despite EVH & his team of lawyers.
You can maybe say "vintage Charvel" or something along those lines, to give a subtle nod
to that early era of EVH.

Kiefer Sutherland had a vintage charvel on eBay a while ago, and people were bidding on that.
Maybe use "Kiefer Sutherland" in your listing. LOL!

I see a lot of gear (crappy guitars, pedals, pickups, etc..) with "EVH" in the title to try to get more hits and nobody reports those auctions. It's crap, so nobody cares.

    For example ...
    http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Hondo-Fa...item2c5cbbc10e

    http://cgi.ebay.com/evh-frankenstrat...item2310fe1fa6

Why aren't people reporting these auctions?
Why isn't eBay giving these guys a hard time?
Why isn't ELVH sending THEM "cease and desist" letters? lol
    Crazy.

    As for my auction ...
Ebay will shut it down for using "Charvel" in the title too, as it's not a Charvel.
If/when I re-list it, I'll probably list it as "San Dimas Style" or something like that.
    I dunno.

    very true !
the very mention of 'Eddie style' in any guitar related topic or forum will certainly get the point across .

kinda speaks volumes about the scope of his influence and impact , doesn't it ??

Does eBay ever mention anything about your item being reported by another member? Just looking through the ebay guide, it's as easy as "someone" clicking report: policy violation, keyword violation (misleading brand - EVH, Charvel, etc.) Also, eBay is more likely to end an auction or issue a warning if you've violated in the past.

Given the fact that other auctions continue with the same Brands listed in the Title - such as: evh frankenstrat replica - without being yanked leave me no choice but to agree with you that you're being targeted.

You should try listing a plain start with a bunch of EVH keywoords to see if runs to the end without a violation.
