I'm sorry to hear this Jonezy ...
I have two dogs now and one is 15 years old, so I know I will be faced with the same decision very soon.

For me, it really comes down to quality of life.
No one wants to put their pet to sleep, but no one wants to see them suffer either.

If it's any consolation, I recently had to put my cat to sleep and was there to witness the "procedure".
They first give them a shot which puts them to sleep, then another that actually stops their vital organs.
    There's absolutely no suffering.

I chose to be there and comfort my pet while this was being done, and I'm glad I did.
I didn't want him to be by himself or with strangers in his last moments.
Besides ... I think being there to witness just how humane the whole procedure was and seeing how there was no pain or suffering helped me to cope with the loss of my pet in a strange way.

    My condolences to you, Jonezy.
    Losing a pet is tough.

Yeah, i saw Savannah (my cat) a bout a month before she passed.
She was old & frail, but still so affectionate, when she saw me.
It was late September, and her & i had a really good visit.

I came back home in November, for Thanksgiving, and was wandering around the house calling for her, looking under beds & checking the porch.
She'd always come when she heard my voice.

Hours later, my Dad finally said, "Uhhhh....she died a few weeks ago."

I'm like, "Thanks for telling me, now that i've been calling for her all day!"

The late, great, porn star, Savannah!

Maybe my "Savannah" has joined the original Savannah, somewhere in animal/porn star heaven.

Finally made the decision. Gonna put him down Sat. morning. Charge (according to the chic I talked to on the phone)
    $98 to euthanize
    $80 to cremate

    THE FUCK!!

Oh well, it has to be done.
    Then I'm gonna get shit-fucking-faced-drunk.
    Go RAMS!

That's actually not unreasonable (the vet prices).

Have him cremated, like my parents did with "Savannah."
She is buried beneath her favorite bush, in our yard.
That way, you still feel like the pet is there with you, to some extent.
