Interesting fact: Joe Satriani played bass on every ==VH== album after WACF.

Actually, Joe's wife, Rubina, triggered the flange effect during the intro to "Unchained."

Ed said to hit it at various points, and i guess she nailed it on the first take.

She actually suggested the flange. You can read about it in Dave's autobiography. Here's a passage.

"The Satriani's were such a large part of the early albums. That wife of his is so guitar handy, she suggested many of the effects that went on the early albums. Ed would always just shrug his shoulders and go with it, because after all, that Satriani family knew best."
