That's how the government controls you, ya know. They repeat false information over and over and over until people start believing it. (Iraq really didn't have anything to do with toppling the Twin Towers, no matter how many times Bush/Cheney said it.)

I guess you live in Sum-topia now. How's the weather? Pretty gloomy, I reckon....and I heard Katy Perry refuses to tour there.

You know....Sum is my friend and all....and I talked to him today, cause I was like..."Wow! You didn't tell me you got banned!" And he went on to tell me about how disgusted he was with the band, and arguing his point on WHY he was disgusted with the band, etc. And I told him straight out...why be a member of a FAN site, when you HATE the band? It doesn't make sense, and he agreed. And, being an Ed worshiper myself, I have had my fair share of arguments with him about Ed. After all that arguing, neither of us ever budged on our opinion...nor will we. Big surprise, eh???

I WAS kinna surprised to see anything about 2010 tour mentioned here, though. Working back in radio again, on a classic pop/rock station, I get a lot of access to new press releases about old bands getting out on the road again, and I've never seen any mention of VH. It would be nice! And with these guys, you sure as hell never know....they ALWAYS keep us guessing. And...if I do see anything in my morning press releases, I'll report immediately. Cause they won't put anything out to the stations without it being iron clad.

First off, let me say, welcome back Cherry! It's been a long time...sounds like you've had alot of changes goin' on, and for the better....I am happy for you that things seem to be working out.

I suggested that very thing to Sum more than once, as did others - that "why belong if you loathe the band so much?" question. Not that I (or the others) wanted him to quit....just what was the point? as you said. Maybe it just took hearing it from a long time friend (you), as opposed to a relative newcomer (especially one who's opinions differ so greatly from his on so many other points - me) for it to make sense to him. I think that there's more than enough room here for people with differing viewpoints to exist in the same community, so I hope that he does come back - I know he's got friends here who miss hangin' out with him. You know Sum though - he sticks to his guns when he's made up his mind.

Got that right about keepin' us guessing - that's Van Halen for sure! That's so cool that you're working in radio....I was a DJ at my college's radio station, back in the 80's....My school was on Staten Island, and we were such small potatoes, I don't even think we reached the whole island...Hahaha! Even so, I enjoyed my time behind the mic....Also cool is that "inside track" aspect of it - for you and for us! We got us a woman on the inside now....heehee...

There is NO doubt that the debates get heated in this place...and yes, Sum is definitely front and center of the majority of them. And that gets hard for me to sit and read too. I'm here just cause I love the band...period. I don't CARE if they release new music, I don't CARE what Ed is at home working on, what he's smoking, drinking or sleeping with, I don't CARE what he fights with Mike or Dave about....I'm not on their payroll, so I don't need to know what goes on behind the scenes. I will say I was very happy about their most recent tour, and that Ed went into rehab before embarking on it. It would kill me to see anything happen to him. And I was also very disappointed to learn there were no dates scheduled near my neck of the woods. I saw them in Lubbock in 2004, and figured they would come back, given the great reception they received from that audience....but they didn't. Beyond that, I have no real opinions to voice, good or bad, with what they do or don't do. I would LOVE to see another tour happen, and PRAY they come back to Lubbock if it does. But if they don't, that's perfectly ok. And new music...I couldn't care less. When it comes to older bands putting out new music, I almost NEVER enjoy the recent stuff as much as I do the older stuff. KISS and Aerosmith are good examples....I just can NOT get into the Lick It Up album, or anything they have put out since that. The title track on Lick It Up is okay...but it sure as hell aint no Detroit Rock City, God of Thunder, Strutter, or Dr. Love. Same with Jaded or Crazy vrs Dream On or Sweet Emotion from Aerosmith....that certain "something" that made it so great back in the day seems to be missing.

Anyway...where was I going with this?? Oh yeah....I just can't get hyped up, passionate, and opinionated about what they should or should do now, or how right or wrong they've been doing it. I just love what they DID. They put out six GREAT albums that I still love to listen to. For that I am and will always be a fan. So...I don't get all the arguing and frustration, and don't wanna partake in that. It gets old fast.

I started radio in the 80's too....88 to be exact. And when I got out of it, things were JUST starting to go digital. So, to start over again in it NOW was like......WHOA!! Where's all the carts and the reel to reel?? We don't even deal with CD's anymore, its all on mp3's. It was just MIND BLOWING! Everything is so damn simplified its hard to COMPREHEND! But I be rollin' right along now....Its been almost a year to the day since I was hired there, and I've been technified! And its still a ton of fun! And yes, I will do my best to keep you updated with what I know. In TODAY'S news...it was all about REO Speedwagon celebrating the THIRTY year release of Hi Infidelity....which made me feel just plain ANCIENT! And REO...speaking of old bands still doin' their thing....are just truckin' right along! I saw them play in Dallas in 2008 at the Nascar race. They were FABULOUS!!

I love that late night infomercial with Kevin Cronin & some "eye candy" named, Amy.

It's one of those Time/Life deals, where you get 8 CD's for a mere 300.00!
Just four monthly installments of 88.95!!

Anyway, it's a classic rock ballads themed infomercial, and Cronin looks exactly the same, except his hair is all white, now.
Amy is there to say things like, "Oh Kevin, all these songs are so good!
What a dream to have them all in one collection!"
Kevin responds: "You couldn't do it, i can't do it, but TIME/LIFE can!"

Then he'll say to Amy, "This is a little band from Chicago, that we invited on one of our major tours with REO Speedwagon...No one knew them then, but they certainly remember them now...FOREIGNER!"

(Cue the video for, "Feels like the first time.")

HA! I've never seen that one before! Oh yes, I love those time/life infomercials too. Always entertaining. But I'll be damned if I'll pay that kind of money for a collection of CD's as long as file sharing websites continue to exist.
