Yeah, just imagine if Eddie did quit Van Halen is 81'. I wonder if Eddie's stuff would have been successful.
According to the Van Halen timeline article I have been reading, all the music for Fair Warning was actually the music Ed wrote and was going to use for his solo album. He was ready to quit the band in 81 and Alex talked him out of it. Dave got wind of the solo stuff and wrote all the lyrics to Fair Warning
in a couple of weeks.. AMAZING SHIT..... THE RESULT WAS A MIND SHATTERING ALBUM....
Showbiz is so Thrilling, The Camera Rolls she's Willing!
OH No! They Won't Believe It When they! OH NO! See what Their Seeing. Go See Baby Now!

He wanted to replace Ace in KISS. This goes to show, for all of us that want a Dave reunion, that it didn't take too long before Eddie grew tired of Dave. But I don't think Eddie wouldn't have been as successful if it weren't for Dave; it would be the same if Randy stayed with Quiet Riot. An excellent guitarist who faded away. CVH was as much about attitude as aptitude.

the only reason dave got in band in the first place was to save ten bucks from renting daves pa system yes eddie would have been fine as a solo artist back then he did not need dave to make him who he is eddie is a master musician and fuck you if you disagree stop puting eddie down you losers let eddie be eddie let the man live his life the so called porno music ed has made kicks major ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ed said this in an interview once " every Van Halen album is a solo album for me , I get to do what I want."
Ready, Eddie!
I think Eddie wouldn't have been as successful without Dave. Van Halen would have been much different without Dave. Look at how much different Sammy Hagar changed Eddie.
So you're saying that Classic Van Halen is less important than Edward Van Halen? Edward IS my no. 01, but alone he didn't do Van Halen - like Sean Van Halen says Michael, Alex, Dave AND Eddie MADE Van Halen. IF Edward was so right, after Dave quit the band and Spam joined forces with the trio, Van Hagar would have become THE shit. Instead of that, Van Hagar became SHIT. Lead singer with attitude; that's what Edward needed back to those days, not a poser. And DDLR is/was the one with attitude.Originally Posted by jerryclark

Just imagine IF Spam joined Van Halen back to 1977.Originally Posted by zozo5150

Besides, EVH was changing his way of compose since "1984". Spam just gave him power to "spread his wings" and fall down into chessy stuff!

And remember folks ... it was Dave that left in the first place. However, I do believe that Van Halen are the four originals, but its Eddie that makes the "what" & the "How", just listen to Dave's Solo stuff, the music is o.k(ish) but if it were all about the singing it would just be poetry or something.
