    New Metal bands

i have been looking at the music scene these days and most of it is Punk. Not that i dont like punk i just like metal and hard rock better, way better. As i was looking at bands coming out i wondered, what is a good new metal band to look forward to. So far i have seen Wolfmother (they sound like Zeppelin and Sabbath) and The Sword, i like both but do you guys and gals know of anyother new metal bands to look for?

what i mean by new is like brand new not nu like as in the "rap-metal"

I hate all the new metal bands.
They all pale in comparison to the original NWOBHM groups from the late 70's and early 80's.
There are a couple i appreciate, though: Lamb of God, Isis, that band that had the albums 'Damnation' and 'Deliverance' (name escapes me), not much else.
Even Slayer seem like cartoon characters, these days.

Opeth. Their latest one, Ghost Reveries, trumps both of those records, IMO. Definately check it out if you haven't already.

2006 has been pretty tame for metal - and guitar-oriented records - in general, I find.

Motorhead's latest, 'Kiss of Death' is very solid.

Tool's album, '10,000 Days', is my early pick for Album of the Year.

Ian Gillan's 'Gillan's Inn' was also a lot of fun. Lots of great guests, Tony Iommi, Joe Satriani, Janick Gers, Uli Jon Roth, Steve Morse, Jeff Healy... great stuff. Great vibe to this retrospective.
"I am not one of those weak-spirited, sappy Americans who want to be liked by all the people around them. I dont care if people hate my guts; I assume most of them do. The important question is whether they are in a position to do anything about it. My affections, being concentrated over a few people, are not spread all over Hell in a vile attempt to placate sulky, worthless shits."

    Yes, Opeth!
I like that band a lot. Very creative & haunting material, with some great playing.
Isis sounds a lot like Tool, and they are originally from Boston.

    Damn, that was funny!
Wolfgang Van Halen - "I love being a bass player. Its just me and Al a groove section. Just boom, boom, boom, and were good". GW

Edward Van Halen - "What is next for Wolf is the next record and the next tour. Hes no different than I am. Music is his life. If he goes back to school, Ill probably go with him. GC

Nice stuff, GF. Motrhead always put something that worths the listening. I'll try to check this one out. And I didn't know Gillan got a new solo effort - too many nice guests there. Man, it's been a while since I heard from Uli Roth the last time... .

I wouldn't say Wolfmother are a Metal band (I'd with Mike Patton on this, they're shite) but anyway here's a coupla new bands I've been listening to.

The Answer - Led Zeppelin-y blues rock band with a more modern heavy feel. Saw them support Whitesnake earlier this year, pretty good. I recommend the song Preachin'

Hurricane Party/Roadstar - Sort of like a mix between Motley Crue. Def Leppard and AC/DC. The singer sounds like Joe, the songs are like Motley Crue and the guitar solos have that Angus Young feel. I knew about them quite some time ago via Classic Rock. I recommend the songs Roadstar amd Killer.

The Darkness - Go ahead and slam me, but they fuckin' rule!

I like some stuffs from The Darkness, but I thought they were more of a Hard Rock band.
