You'll read some really far out opinions here.

The Who was a Dream Theater-ish technical band.

Pete Townshend had no stage presence.

Roger Daltrey was an ugly bastard.

Despite swinging his SG around his head and smashing it on the stage, Pete wasn't "primal."

But I guess this is par for the course on a board where Deep Purple is better than Led Zeppelin, George Lynch can't play anymore, and two out of six albums by the band everyone claims to love are considered skippable.

Next up, Paul Gilbert can't play guitar and Rob Halford can't sing! The short bus is here! All aboard!

That wasn't a bashing of the Kinks. They're great, but the Who were more than that.

Obviously, i was NOT claiming The Who were a Dream Theater-esque band.

My point, if you are able to pay attention long enough before the inevitable hissy-fit sets in, was that
some people focus more on the chops of an Entwistle or a Moon, while downplaying the tricky (yes, tricky)
    simplicity of The Stones.

The Who presented a big, grand, sometimes complex, musical picture.
The Stones dug in their heels and played blues based, R&B tinged, rock 'n roll.

Are you following me, or are you still frantically downloading pictures of Daltrey without a shirt?

Who's unfriendly? I'm laughing myself silly as I roll my eyes.

I'll just chalk "Pete had no stage presence and wasn't primal" up to stale bong water.
