Im currently abstaining from commercial music while we write new stuff. We don't want our songs riddled with top 40 essence, so all outside influence has been halted, lol.

Im listening to scratch tracks of a new tune we are writing called "War Machine".
Definately influenced by Sept.11th, the song is basically a reminder that war is war and we should never assume victory comes without a tremedous human cost.

But on an editorial type note, the one thought that puzzles me about terrorists and the things they do for god. One question keeps popping into my head.
"Why do they think God even needs their help battling evil, I mean he is God right?"

Right now I've been playing Susheela Raman - Music for Crocodiles. It's got a nice mellow easy going world beat sound to it. Every now and again I need to listen to something like this to get away from the head banging stuff.

I downloaded Johnny Cash's At Folsom Prison and made a CD. Love it. This is as close as I ever got to country.

Well my wife fell in love with the movie, "Walk The Line". She had me watch it. First thing, I WANT REESE WITHERSPOON. Second, it was a good movie. However, I did not like the soundtrack. Didn't like the signing by Phoenix. Thought it was cool that they didn't lipsync, however, you lost a little bit in the translation.

So I downloaded At Folsom Prison and fell in love with it. To me, Johnny Cash isn't country. It's sounds so Hybrd for the time. It sounds like early rock n roll to me. Johnny Cash was the man. Love Cocaine Blues...should be Van Halenized!

I mean damn, recording a live album from a prison is rock to me.

Reese Witherspoon is a cutie, for sure. Cash is a legend, no doubt about. His songs are about his very own strifes. That dude lived! To go in a maximum security prison and sing for the inmates was total class on his part. He had elephant balls.

I hear the train a comin'
    It's rollin' 'round the bend,
And I ain't seen the sunshine,
    Since, I don't know when,
    I'm stuck in Folsom Prison,
    And time keeps draggin' on,
    But that train keeps a-rollin',
    On down to San Antone.

When I was just a baby,
    My Mama told me, "Son,
    Always be a good boy,
    Don't ever play with guns,"
But I shot a man in Reno,
    Just to watch him die,
When I hear that whistle blowin',
I hang my head and cry.

I bet there's rich folks eatin',
    In a fancy dining car,
    They're probably drinkin' coffee,
    And smokin' big cigars,
But I know I had it comin',
    I know I can't be free,
    But those people keep a-movin',
    And that's what tortures me.

Well, if they freed me from this prison,
If that railroad train was mine,
I bet I'd move out over a little,
    Farther down the line,
    Far from Folsom Prison,
That's where I want to stay,
And I'd let that lonesome whistle,
    Blow my Blues away.
