Man, Top Jimmy was one of the first non "Greatest Hits" material songs from Van Halen that first drew me in. I'm always surprised when people say it's not one of their favorites.

That's cool Wimpy... what is it exactly about TJ that drew you in??

It is the skippable track on 1984 for me... Ha, I am gonna start a thread on this exact topic!!

Oddly, (being a fan of Van Halen), I love a good rhythm guitar player, and Ed's rhythm playing on this track is great. It's such a fast, energetic feel.

I'm with you Wimpy, Top Jimmy is a very cool tune! "the joint be jumpin when the band be pumpin, and you know they play a crazy gig!"

But Dirty Movies gets the nod on this one. I just love the groove to it, and Alex's drums sound great on this track.

Killer tune with great lyrics, man.

    NO doubt about it!

    agreed .

Ed's rhythm playing is beyond cool on that tune . his ideas are chaotic yet musical . they swing nicely ...

We all dig different stuff but we all dig Van Halen!!

Me? I like Dirty Movies, it's entertaining, but Top Jimmy's groove makes me wanna shake my tail feathers every time. I agree, it's got a punky feel to it, like that thing Eddie said about falling down the stairs and landing on your feet...headlong, full speed ahead, let's get this joint rockin'!

I agree completely, Top Jimmy is a fun, energetic, up-tempo rocker.

Hi guys! I haven't been around too much----working major overtime at the job. Other stuff goin' on....major life changes. Not to be cryptic but I'm not much of a social butterfly at the moment....and the internet service where I live is a Pain in the Arse, so I don't get to play often even if I feel like it....

Thanks for the kind words on my post---you make me smile.
