Predictions: Will VH make it through this tour?

I said elsewhere on this site that Eddie is more of a reclusive and eccentric mad professor type and personally I wouldn't change him for the world.

But I do think Dave needs to hear that Eddie sees him as more of a stranger than a friend.

From what I have read over the last decade regarding Roth, he does seem to have become quite reclusive himself - hidden away in his changing room or on his tour bus and not interacting with others on tour.

Ed is the mad scientist or chemist, judging by his intake & inventiveness.
He peaked a long time ago, but he kinda changed the world, so he's able to sit on his ass
for thirteen years deciding his next move.

His biggest flub was bailing on the expected 96 reunion.
After that debacle, he could not get his footing back.
The fans were enraged, lead on.
Gary was the fall guy.
Ed became bitter & resented the fans for III's failure.

It just was never the same again.

After that, it was a series of "getting back with the exe's."
Hagar nearly killed him the second time around.
Dave would have to, had it not been for Wolfgang there to keep the lights on.

It's not that I don't agree with most of your assessment, it's just that I don't think it's cool that Roth is considered an asshole egomaniac who broke up the band, when it's so obvious that EVH is every bit the egomaniac, and can't do shit without help from others. He appears to have no appreciation for the role others have played in his success. HE COULDN"T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT THEM.

Being eccentric isn't a free pass to be an asshole. We should still call him on it (as fans). ESPECIALLY when he hasn't been operating at "genius" level for (generously) 20 years.

Yeah, it seems like he had 80 percent of everything written by 1978.
From there, he re-shaped a lot of ideas (Thank you Ted Templemen!)

I'm so aware of my own, yet i cannot change them.

I think a lot of his comments were bore out of his loyalty to Wolf, and loyalty to

I just find it odd that he didn't anticipate the shit storm that would follow.
Possibly, he did not care.

Well, he and Roth had about 80% of the things worked out.

I'm not at all shocked by what he said, only a bit surprised. I'm sure none of this is new to Roth, so don't see why it would make much of a difference when it comes to their contractual obligations (the tour).

I also see people saying Roth should "have the balls" to come to Michael Anthony's defense. What a load of shit. Roth has already made his feelings about MA known.
Roth might respond to the friendship, and "act your age" comments with comments about how different they are, and conflict always being there. If I were him, I would stand back and let the world see what an arrogant, insecure guy EVH really is. It only makes DLR look better.

The "act your age" thing is just stupid. EVH was in an alcoholic state of arrested development for decades. Now that he is sober, he is no doubt grappling with maturity. As is his wont, he needs to shit on others to feel secure.

Hahaha! you had me! I was gonna reply with "Really?", then saw the bottom. If Roth is pissed at all, it's probably because it could hurt ticket sales. He has been dealing with EVH for decades, and none of this is new to him.

I am going in early Sept. to the Indy show. I too feel this is the end for VH as we now know them.

I always defended Ed when Hagar would make derogatory comments through the years...now I wonder why.

Whether true or not I do not think Ed should have made those comments to BB. Just about everything has been
said about everybody through the years already....IMO I think you should have just been quite and perform on your upcoming
tour and ride off into the sunset...but that would have been to simple.

It's become redundant to see Hagar's smug face, every time anything remotely VH
related is mentioned in the press.

Hagar also confirmed what Ed said (albeit more tactfully) in his own book.
