Predictions: Will VH make it through this tour?

Judging by Ed's candid Billboard interview, it appears he & Dave are on the outs.

But will they survive the 2015 trek, possibly THE final tour for our beloved dysfunctional band?

I'm guessing the gas will run out of the tank, mid way through.
Ed seems to be going through his Michael Schenker phase (UFO), and losing interest fast.
Roth could hitch a plane to Japan, tomorrow...

    Any predictions?

They'll make it. I'm sure Roth already knew how EVH has felt. This is just being disclosed to the public now. I'm gonna dissect the interview paragraph by paragraph sometime in the next few days.

I have believed that EVH was like this for a long while.....that's why I would argue that EVH forced Roth out of the the band, at least as much as Roth quit. I know Roth is out of his tree, and falls victim to whims, but he is way more pragmatic about things. He doesn't hold onto grudges like EVH.

When EVH cuts into Templeman, I think "that's the guy who plucked you out of the bars when no one else cared. That's the guy who stretched his credibility by stating "his phrasing is the best since Charlie Parker". After Fair Warning, sales were trending down, so Templeman needed more commercial songs. I can see why EVH could be annoyed, but I'm pretty sure Templeman was trying to do what he believed was best for the band. It's not like he was ripping them off, or fucking them over (which happens all the time in the music business!). There was no malice in his actions.

When is this asshole gonna release music that warrants my attention? That's my ultimate concern. If you are gonna be this much of a douchebag, you better have some pretty fine, current tunes for your audience.

It can't be "Van Halen" without Roth, any more than it can be "Van Halen" without Eddie.

People might think I "hate" Hagar. I don't, I just think he is a mediocre talent, and didn't want him to have anything to do with my favorite band. I believe MOST of what he says about EVH, though. This isn't grandstanding...

This will be one of the first times I wont be seeing them as the closest they are coming is a 3 hour drive, and after todays drama I really don't give a shit one way or the other. Its late and I am tired as fuck and I and much as I want to type about how much I think the brothers are first class pricks let me just say we saw Rush on the R40 tour last month and that ladies and gentlemen is how its done. No drama, no egos no nonsense.

    I agree.
I think Sammy was an awful choice to front VH.
I do however think he is a good singer in his own right, and had a couple of good songs before VH.
    Sammy's stage presence is horrendous.

I do however believe that he is an honest guy.
When he speaks, it doesn't strike me as being vindicitive.
Rather it strikes me as the words of a guy who tells you how it is or was.

The statements about MA are just so obviously untrue, that it was right for Hagar to publicly defend him.

I see a lot of people saying that EVH is bitter, or angry. That's not what I see. I see ARROGANCE. He isn't upset in the video, he's not mad. He is just an asshole, dismissing or diminishing anyone else that has been on his team (without the last name Van Halen).

How many quotes have you seen, of EVH saying nice things about Roth, Mike, or Templeman (he said nice things about Hagar, and Gary, but that was really fueled by his feelings about Roth, and later Hagar)?

They are few and far between...I mean a fucking handful in 36 years. How many negative things about these guys....we could fill this page.

The Ed pile-on at the links is getting insane.

I don't think it's beyond reason that Ed coached Mike on what to play.
Ed is out of his head, self contained, a perfectionist, introverted, hyper sensitive...

You guy's want him to be "Joe normal."

He could be that, but then you wouldn't get Eddie Van Halen.
You'd get Dave Grohl or another generic, barre chord hit maker.

He's not an asshole, but he's also not normal.
In his mind, Mike was not pulling his weight or playing what he envisioned.

    Ed was candid, for once.
We all wanted something else beside rote responses.

We got that & he's being crucified in multiple threads (not here, elsewhere).

I have thought he was an asshole for a very long time, and I don't expect "Joe Normal". The thing is, he hasn't produced anything worth a shit for DECADES. I don't care what anyone says, EVH is overrated as an overall musician. He can't write a song to save his life. He has needed help from other people to organize his music into songs. And when he has done soundtrack music, he hasn't put a fright into Morricone. "The Wild Life" soundtrack was lame, "The Seduction of Gina", Porn music...WTF!

He really thinks Van Halen is all him, and everyone else are his sidemen. Fucking ridiculous. And people think Roth is arrogant...

All that pretentious shit about never listening to other peoples music, his diminishing of anyone he has worked with....that is all fine IF you have some current mind-blowing music (or how about within the last 20 years?)...but he doesn't. I want to hear him be candid about why none of the new music he has recorded is ever released, and why it has been so long?

I think that for the first time, I'm on Sammy's side.

Ed says that he's only touring with Roth because that's what the fans want; because it would be selfish not to. Well then what was that 13 year hiatus? Where's the vintage box set? Where's a DVD? He says he only listens to music that he's making... Where's that?????????

He's put out one album in the past fifteen years. Him saying he listens to no new music but knows who Taylor Swift's songwriter shows that he's full of shit. He's completely out of touch. Thank God for Wolfgang and Dave, it seems they're the only ones who are in touch with reality and with what's going on today, culturally.

This isn't the first time Ed's been candid like this. Remember that interview in 1982 when he ripped Mike to shreds? It's just odd now, because for years there was not a peep out of the Van Halen camp, and they seemed to be taking the high road. It's interesting, though. Ed's very away of what has been said about him from Sammy. He's very aware of what the fans wants from the band. The thing is, he doesn't fully care what the fans wants, but has an easily bruised ego so words affect him a whole deal.

He just came off as senile and bitter. Yeah, Sammy wrote a whole book about how Ed was a devil to make some money... But Ed just showed that he's no better. I can't defend this guy.

    This is spot on.

At least when Yngwie Malmsteen is an asshole, it's funny. This is just... Sad.
