Never thought I'd see the day this would happen.
I hope they can Jump, or any of the other softer tunes. It's time to rock!!![]()
They are really putting themselves out there!

Best act of the night. Well, I must admit, I turned the channel once VH finished.
I liked it.

The band has sounded great all along but I really think Dave has hit his stride and sounded much better last night than on Kimmel & Ellen. They still have until July before they hit the road but he was so much better last night.
I kept watching and the other artists were ok but Kanye was terrible.
I viewed the video on youtube this morning.
They were much, much better than any other performance I've seen of them this year.
Not that the band themselves have been bad - they're always good, but they were really tight on the Bilboard performance.
So tight, and so spot on.
Roth the wild card reigned himself in to where he should be.
Nothing to cringe about really, performance wise here.
I was quite happy with this.
Now if only someone could hook them up with a wardrobe department...
But that's another story.
They were pretty damn good. THat pic of Roth next to the crowd is the coolest pic I have seen since the reunion.
The stage production...it was cool. I know that was the Billboard Awards staging, but seeing them in that setting was great. I really hope they are planning on taking a bigger production on the road this tour.
It can't be "Van Halen" without Roth, any more than it can be "Van Halen" without Eddie.
The performance was probably the best one so far... But Jesus Christ, they've gotta do something about Wolfgang. The kid has ballooned even more, and that goatee and shades combo made him look like a moron. Not a good look for the band at all.
I don't understand why they only just started doing TV now. Unlike the Roth Show, I feel like Roth on TV brings the same charm that he used to. I feel like he is the sole link that bridges the generation gap between today's audiences and the band. Wolf sure as hell doesn't... Come on, the guy isn't out there hitting the club grinding out to Chief Keef and Future.
Nice to hear him talk a little smack back at Sammy.
Yeah baby! You're so right about the difference between "The Roth Show", and regular TV. He needs a straight man to play off. That's when his humor works best.
I cruelly thought to myself "Wolfgang could use a drug problem"...(I know that's bad). He has that trust fund kid attitude, he literally displays no urgency, or hunger.
Glad to hear Roth just stamp out any notion that he would sing Van Hagar songs.
How anyone that has followed this band (even the staunchest Van Hagar fan), could ever think that Roth would agree to do that, just reveals how little they understand Roth (and by extension "Van Halen", considering that his attitude/vision was an essential ingredient in the band). The whole idea for Roth is to establish his records as "the real Van Halen". He wants Van Hagar to dry up and blow away, and won't do anything to water that garden. The guy's whole being is fueled by pride and competition.
To paraphrase his book "I would sooner DIE, than be the last guy up the hill"...not the words of a guy who would sing his ultimate rival's songs.

Dave is the man.
“Well, there’s a credibility issue there, Good, bad or in the middle, you know Roth means it; the other guy doesn’t. And that’s why it sold half as well. Literally, Midas Bible half. Never did better than half. And why would you bring that into the proceedings? This hamburger don’t need no helper. Ain’t no rehearsing pants in my closet.”
Dave doesn’t have to say another word about “the other guy”.
I know I was one that thought about Dave playing Hagar era stuff. It had nothing to do with how little I understand Roth. It had a lot to do with not understanding present day Van Halen. Who's in charge?
There is 4 albums worth of Hagar era music. Doesn’t that mean anything to Eddie? Is that music just doomed to casinos, fairs and Michael Anthony backyard BBQ’s?
Dave explained it perfectly “Literally, Midas Bible half. Never did better than half. Why would you bring that into the proceedings?
I would like to hear Eddie’s answer to that very same question.
One thing is for sure. This is looking and sounding like a band. Amazing what a couple of months can do. I thought VH were sabotaging Dave for some evil purpose. Now this feels like a band. Eddie doing interviews. Dave doing Interviews. The Band playing together on TV. I like it.
