I caught a bit of it last night at least up until the point where Kevin died. It did have some footage as well as pics of RR that I had never seen before.
It can't be "Van Halen" without Roth, any more than it can be "Van Halen" without Eddie.
Very cool, though strange that Quiet Riot would get the Showtime/cable treatment.
I remember watching MTV when we first got it, and they started playing this amazing
song/video, "Metal Health."
I loved that video, so much.
They played it quite a bit, even before the album broke.
Sadly, after that, QR just got worse & worse, like Twisted Sister.
But "Metal Health" had a killer riff, chorus, verse...everything.
I was watching the Jack Osbourne produced Ozzy documentary.
There's one point where they show a clip of Randy Rhoads being interviewed.
I got the chills right then & there, did not expect it.
What would Randy be doing today?
He was so great, so young.
"PLayed it quite a bit"...yeah like 3 times every 2 hours!
I really dug them at the time. "Metal Health" was their best song, but the album was a bit weak. "Love's a Bitch", MH, and CFtN were the only cuts I liked, but I liked them a lot. I saw them live, pretty close up (I may have seen them twice, but can't remember) and dug it. Cavazo was alright.
Maybe having Rhoads still around to compete with, would have kept EVH a little bit more motivated?

Thank god for file sharers!
I DL'd it last night & watched it today.
It was awesome, really well done.
Regardless of what you think about Dubrow, it's still very sad how the events turn out.
Every break these guys got (Getting Rhoads, losing Rhoads, Getting a huge hit album, bombing
straight after that, Kevin being rich, Kevin ending up broke....), they'd pay for it the next time.
Speaking of unlucky bands & related in name, check out the band RIOT.
From New York, Riot was a pure, late 70's/early 80's metal band that should have been huge.
Great song's, great riffs, great tone, great singer(s), they had the goods.
But they got fucked over by their label, right before they were set to break big.
Their label confiscated their breakthrough record (Fire down under).
Then their singer quit, later to die from cancer related to rat poison.pest control.
Then their second singer was carjacked & killed in Atlanta.
Later, their founder & leader, Mark Reale, died from Crones disease.
I had "Fire Down Under" when it came out. I distinctly remember trying to decide between "Raw Power" by the Stooges, and FDU. I still listen to them, one of the few "metal" acts I really dig. Their other records have some great stuff on them too, but FDU is a classic. "No More Lies", "Swords and Tequila", "Altar of the King" and my fav, "Feel the Same".

Riot blows Quiet Riot out of the ocean in my opinion. Quiet Riot had a couple good songs, Riot had several great albums. Fire Down Under, Narita, Thundersteel, Rock City, are amazing albums. They got back together in NYC after Mark Reale had a small stint in Texas post FDU break up and released Thundersteel in 1988, which IMO is their true break through and their best line up with Tony Moore on vocals, Don Van Stavern on bass, and Bobby Jarzombek on drums.
The last album they with Mark in 2012 is the same line up with Mike Flyntz on second guitar. They're still continuing in Mark's spirit and Mark's father's approval under the moniker of Riot V. They released an album last year, which I thought was really well done.
New song from Riot, now called Riot V
It's very old school metal.
