The forum needs some new blood and I could care less if they thought Sam was better, it would be up to us to set them straight.

I have just been informed that VHLinks appears to be in trouble.

As you may be aware they are attempting to raise funds, via donations, to pay for their server.

Since they started this round of funding, 2 weeks ago, they still have not raised a quarter of their target.

    Their deadline is October 1st.

If VHLinks is taken down / unplugged, there may be issues for both Roth Army and ClassicVanHalen.com, in as much as, where do all of those ex-VHLinks members go to to get their Van Halen / Van Hagar online fix?

Some of them are already members of this site or Roth Army, but for the majority of Linkers, the only other option maybe the VHND's comments sections.

In the last few weeks we have started to receive new member registrations, plus I have noticed a few dormant member accounts logging on.

This may well be as a direct result of what is happening over at VHLinks.

It appears that a shift within the Van Halen online community is already happening.

I wonder if Jeff at VHND has noticed anything?

I honestly doubt it will shut down, with or without the funds.
They've run it so long without proceeds from members, plus it's known as the biggest Halen
related site on the net, i just don't see it happening.

The other thing is that people are broke.
The economy has been in the dumps for ages now, everyone is scraping by...
i just don't see people digging into their pockets over a fan site or any sort of entertainment
related site, unless you are getting access to something that would normally cost money
anyway (Movies, music, adult content, games, etc.)

It's a nice gesture to give, but the reality is a lot of these forum things are not priority
    in people's every day lives.

As far as people coming here (from there), i just don't see it.

we are kind of the outcasts (the burnouts, if you will) of the VH community.
We are very much focused on the one thing: the important thing.
We don't always play well with others.

Having said that, we do need new blood.

I think this site http://vanhagar.com/ will have a jump in membership.

I'll welcome any refugees, no questions asked.

It can't be "Van Halen" without Roth, any more than it can be "Van Halen" without Eddie.

New blood will come when Van Halen return with a new record, new tour, or, their new project.

We are very specialized on here.

So many of the other sites just don't get what Van Halen represented.

I've read posts at Roth Army where they wish for Dave to quit Van Halen (again!) so he can release his solo stuff with John 5 etc.

And if Van Halen did part company with Dave, then there is no doubt in my mind that VHLinks would be flooded with donations and also predictions of Van Hagar's return.

Maybe we ought to set up a quarantine area for them?

The timing is poor, as well.

VH seem to be back in hibernation mode, save for Dave becoming the "illustrated man."

If a new record or project was out or close to dropping, there'd be a lot more folks excited
about VH & tossing money into the hat.

Yeah, for people who have "The Hags".

I have a feeling that one of the middle-management type guys that love The Hagar, and his Jimmy Buffet-like appeal, will step up and save the links, last minute like.

    I agree.

And when he saves it, he will post something to this effect:

Sunny days on the beach, tasty brews come nightfall...
In the meantime, all us Cabo wabo 5150 maniacs need a place to chill.
    This is that place.

Life without the links, is like the hottest bar in town without the drinks.
Winter's comin', but keep your shorts on....
    We ain't goin' nowhere!
