5150 and OU812 are Classic Van Halen - Apparently!

It's that time of year again when the profits from advertising just aren't enough. Honest.
On a serious note, in real terms the cost of hosting a site may be more than most people realize.
Despite what was outlined in 2013, there was no special stuff organized for those that donated last year.
What it did do was pay for the server.
It will be interesting to see if the fund raising has the same effect as last year or whether it turns out to be unsustainable.
The biggest question this 'Save the Links' campaign raises is what if it did go? Would we be over run with Van Hagar fans? Would Robbie return?

Ready, Eddie!
Oh my God, didn't they just do their fundraiser like five months ago?
I don't think people are gonna turn out in numbers, this time round.
Maybe they can re-name it the "Cabo wabo Links," and be true to their brand.
I'm considering donating. The last thing I want is the Links to close, and this place becomes inundated with Van Hagar fans.
It can't be "Van Halen" without Roth, any more than it can be "Van Halen" without Eddie.
I think they'll do it again. It'll get tougher in the coming years but, year 2, I think it happens. Looking at the pages and pages of guitar gear on that forum...I think they can afford it.
If not, I see a member starting another forum.
That may also be the same reaction from many of the Linkers.
This new round of funding will genuinely upset some of them and could result in the site splintering.
The same thing happened at Roth Army last year.
Apparently Brett has started early this year. So linkers got 10 months for their money.
With the threat of VHLinks closing, now being an annual event, there has got to be a drop off in it's effectiveness.
Also if I was promised special features in recognition of my donation, only for the mods to sit back and do nothing once they had my money, I personally would feel duped / suckered.
Last thing we need is that site to close & Robbie leading the troops:
"Come on, gang! I know of a place we can go!"
