    The Links will live again!

Looks like their "health chart" shows a major upswing of donations.
Even Rawk contributed a fitting, $51.50.

Even if it only peaks at 75 percent, that's 75 percent more than the webmaster
got the other 13 years of it's existence.

I think at that point, you can't say, "We only made 82 percent. We're closing."

In a way I'm quite relieved. I wasn't looking forward to being flooded with Van Hagar fans.

And thankfully, I'm immune to Robbie's antics.

At least the future for Van Hagar looks extremely bleak.

While, thanks to ADKOT and the current 'new project', Van Halen's future looks very promising.

Given all of the above, I would have to say that the success of the 'Save VHLinks' campaign is good outcome for ClassicVanHalen.com

I'm not sure what is happening at VHLinks.

It's been a lot harder to raise the funds this year and they are still off target with less than 2 days to go.

This is bound to get harder each year.

Again they have a similar situation as we have with regard to lurkers.

Individuals that view the threads, but do not join the site and contribute to it's threads.

Obviously they won't be donating either.

Plus, the biggest hurdle is that no one really thinks VHLinks will close.

They are at like 85 percent, there's no way they will close it down.
Guaranteed, come Tuesday, they will bump that chart up to 100 percent.
It feels scripted to me, somehow.

Another thing i don't understand is that if the members have paid the guy's overhead for
the last two years, why are they opening threads thanking him?

They keep saying he's doing all the "heavy lifting," when he has a sweet deal going with
owning & calling the shots on "the most famous VH site on the net," while getting members
    to pay for it.

    The webmaster is savvy.
Some of the members, not so much.

Their webmaster also has advertising income.

But for the second year running, he has threatened to close it down.

Maybe he is tired of it, or, has married, and his wife won't agree to him paying it's bills anymore?

Oh, yer a bastard DLR 1973...
It can't be "Van Halen" without Roth, any more than it can be "Van Halen" without Eddie.

On the contrary I am merely responding to an impending online crisis within the Van Halen community.

Apparently they are already saying goodbye to one another and have stated that Van Halen, Mike, Sammy and Gary should be ashamed of themselves for not supporting VHLinks.

I for one don't think that site will close. I believe that site will come up with the money needed to stay open. Even if the site did close I don't see a huge influx to the ClassicVanHalen site from that one. Some will travel here but I think most will eventually go else where or come up with there own VH forum/message board to get there fix.
Why behave in public if your living on a playground?
