    He was right.

Some guys just have it in spades, they have guitar hands.
Most of us simply do not.

Rockstah (R.I.P.) had the right hands.
I always knew it was more than just his modified amps.

There's just a natural attack an ability...

    So i say, Why Bother?

Why devote all your time and still be a hack?
We are all really good at something, and we know what this kid's good at.
Never take the advice of a teen. Do it to have fun and nothing more. As long as you know a few chords and play from the heart, you got it. Look at Kurt Cobain. He had substandard gear, but he played/sang from the heart. That's all you need. And no, I am not a Nirvana fan at all. I like Alice in Chains.

I'd rather hear a great song with no solo than a shit song with a great solo. I think. Very happy to know VH had both.

    Excellent point(s).

I'm not sure why i was taking a teen's advice, to begin with.
Especially one with the dreaded "dancing feet."

Surely you have heard of The Shaggs?

It's strange, because they can barely play, and everything is so wrong, but eventually you start to pick up on something that is truly distinctive, and that no other band could ever have created. It is definitely more interesting to me than listening to a hack band of "good" musicians just going through the motions, trying to emulate whatever the latest trend is (Whitesnake, NIrvana, Metallica). The point is, anyone that can get a few chords going, and can find other people willing to put the time and work into honing a sound, can probably come up with their own thing.
It can't be "Van Halen" without Roth, any more than it can be "Van Halen" without Eddie.
