New 3 hour High Definition audio/video recording of Van Halen tribute band Fan Halen

I recorded almost 3 hours of the David Lee Roth Van Halen tribute band Fan Halen with my Cybershot and Tascam audio recorder. The quality is pretty good and I
hope old school Van Halen fans enjoy it.

    watch it in 1080p!

Good to watch. They sound more like Classic Van Halen than the current version of Van Halen.

Their bass player does a much better impersonation of Michael Anthony than Wolfgang can manage.

Their singer sounds and looks more like David Lee Roth than the current real thing, and no jazz hands!

Drummer needs a bigger kit, guitarist hold his own, which can't be easy when being compared to Eddie Van Halen for a continuous 3 hours.

All in all, I can see why this band are very popular.

I just watched some Fan Halen last Sunday for the first time. It was the video from Santa Fe on their FB page. Didn't know what to expect, figured I'll just watch a couple tunes and check it out.

They sounded so damn good I watched the whole freakin video at once. They get a nice raucous vibe going on there.

I'm going to see them when they hit my neck of the woods. They played a casino in the outskirts of my town called Langley a while back, but I didn't feel like travelling all the way out there at the time. Had I known they were this good I would of went. They had a write up in the newspaper with pictures and said they drew a fair size crowd and everybody had a blast.

I'll bookmark this three hour show for next time I'm in the right mood. ( drinky, drinky, smoky, smoky. )

Now, a good idea for them is to expand their repetoire a little bit to include some more stuff VH hasn't played, like Me Wise Magic, Can't Get This Stuff No More, One Foot Out The Door, etc, etc, . Also could do a couple from DLR, like Knucklbones, Blacklight, Weekend With The Babysitter, or whatever, just to spice things up a bit.

Also, DLR only wore those white fluffy legwarmer things for the first two songs in 1980, so the FH singer shouldn't be wearing them for the full duration of the show.

I'll give em' credit, they sound good...but I've never been much for tribute bands. The "dressing up" just seems cheesy... too me.I prefer, just four dudes jamming the songs...being themselves.

yeah I saw FH about a year ago. Thought they do a decent job... but I've seen Atomic Punks a few times when Ralph was singing. So hard to top that. Still think they did the best job and Ralphs voice was great for CVH.

Funny...even though FH do a pretty kick-ass job of getting the clothes and stage setup to look like CVH...they don't get it right 100% of the time like you said about the boots ;0) Like the guitar player will have 82 jumpsuit on, but then playing bumblebee or something. But just being nit picky.. haha But they also seem to pull out deeper cuts than most VH tribute bands. Saw em do Drop Dead Legs, I'll Wait, Take Your Whisky Home, LUTS.

Yeah especially CVH tribute bands come of super cheesy with the dress up (even though I give these guys credit for trying to match CHV). But I did like Atomic Punks early on because they were just 4 dudes in plain clothes (in the early days) going out to celebrate their favorite band. Think later on guitar player got into dressing the EVH part more.

and don't forget this Atomic Punks (w Ralph singing) RWTD with Michael Anthony is pretty classic. Probably the closest we'll hear to CVH w "Dave" and Mike ever again ;-)

I got free tickets to see Fan Halen a couple years ago and they were pretty good. It was a fun show. I would love to see the Atomic Punks if they ever come my way.

Nobody will top The Atomic Punks in their prime, with Ralph singing and Brian Young on guitar. I've seen the Punks probably a dozen times over the yrs, but that incarnation was the best. Best tribute band of all time, period. Ralph was just incredible performing as Dave.
