I just thought "Jump" was so ordinary in comparison to say, "Hear about it later" or even "Girl Gone Bad."
That synth riff never struck me as something (if i were Eddie) that i'd keep, or show to the band.
He would talk about it like it was his masterpiece (I guess it might have been, in a commercial sense), yet even
"I'll Wait" beat the snot out of it.
It's a song that represents a kinder, gentler Van Halen.
Mom loved it, my niece has it on her iPod, you get the idea.
But it feels like a real departure, or it did at the time.
They premiered it on MTV, and i was confused by it.
I thought the title "Jump!" was great, but expected a guitar riff.
Never, ever liked those damn Simmons drums, from that era.
