Now that was amazing to hear. You can tell they still had a lot of work to do at that point. The arrangements are so different.

And here's the difference with Springsteen............

Bruce and the ESB start performance with E Street Shuffle, two drum kits with both Max & Vini playing; Roy on piano and Davey on organ.

Vini "mad dog" Lopez is the original drummer and plays on the first 2 albums. HE STILL GETS PAID BY BRUCE......40+ YEARS LATER!

Dave Sancious is the original piano/organ player with incredible work on the first 2 albums.

EVERYBODY gets up on stage and plays together. This is how you do it right!

I'm not a Kiss fan, but this was touching.

For them to put aside their differences and give classy and entertaining speeches. Gene being humble, Ace being Ace... Great stuff.

They went out with class and dignity, instead of being washed up corpses wearing make up on stage.

Thanks for posting that Jack! It was great.............I really wish VH would've taken the opportunity to do it that way.

    Fuckin' Ace, man.

Yeah, he does. Both from Chicago too, so the accent is similar.

Damn he did great job. Everything he said was spot on. I think the HoF is a load of shit, but the induction ceremony is at least a chance for a band to celebrate with their fans. I'm so glad he framed it with the fact that being a KISS fan was always marginalized (as was the band). If any band ever deserved a chance to be honored in front of their peers (and that douche Jann Wenner), it's KISS. With their fans shaking the joint!

I actually welled up with tears watching it, because they were such a huge influence (I have mentioned that I will always remember the moment I decided to dedicate myself to music...listening to Shock Me under the covers in the middle of the night on a shit cassette player with headphones, age 10... I've stuck to it). I know I was one of many.

Very cool to see Gene actually mention that "nobody else has that swing, and style" when talking about Peter Criss. His drumming really gave them a unique sound. Simmons has denigrated PC's playing so much, that it seemed like he saw this big moment as an opportunity to declare it, and it probably meant a lot to PC to hear Simmons tell the public during a ceremony like that.

Somehow it seems more important and dramatic for KISS to get that kind of public recognition, than VH. Even if Roth and EVH had shown up, it wouldn't have been like that. KISS has that underdog, marginalized aspect that made it special. Truly "The People's Choice".

For a band like The Stones or Led Zep? A nice award among many, they've already been Knighted and all that shit...more or less doing the HoF a favor by showing up.
