I'm just guessing here, but there was a lot of tension in this situation.
As we can see from the lazer tag on his head, I'm sure that multiple weapons were trained on him at this moment.
It's not out of the question that a nervous finger on a trigger may have released another round.

I'm no medical expert either, but sometimes wounds - even bullet wounds don't look like we expect them to.
I'm just guessing that perhaps there is a wound that we don't see.

Yes, shooting him in the neck would likely prevent him from talking.
    Likely even kill him.

Maybe these pictures will convince you of the wound.....

You see the red dot on his forehead and on the top of his head on the above picture. If they wanted to end his life, they could've. Boston SWAT are pros, they didn't take a pot shot at his neck after he surrendered.

The Boston magazine article and more pictures of the manhunt can be found here: http://www.bostonmagazine.com/news/b...7/18/tsarnaev/

Thanks for the pictures cowboydan, they are quite amazing to look at.

They really illustrate how a single image doesn't always tell the whole story.
There are many times when I've heard or read of people pointing at a still shot and exclaiming; "Look!"
"You can see..." "You can't see..."
Conspiricy theorists do it all the time.
They are constantly pointing at still shots as though they are experts on whatever subject they are attacking - be it 9/11, the moon landings, or whatever.
All of the sudden they are experts, and they've got the pictures to back them up.

At least Erupted and I held out for further evidence and didn't make absolute statements based on one image.

I would expect them to go out of their way to use this as an opportunity to suggest that it is wrong to profile anyone, because as you can see - the killer among us can look just like the guy next door.
    That's the Rolling Stone way.
Yeah, they always have the blame ready. In the arcticle friends and aquaintances blame the older brother for making him radical. The older bro was radicalized in his home country.

What do they talk about? I'm really curious to know, but too lazy to go and search for a store that carries it.

They go from his childhood, upbringing, to the emerging influence of his older brother, to a sort of slow
    radicalization process that takes hold.
His family, all of them, strike me as having no real empathy for anyone outside their group.
I always got that impression from this kid, as well.
    They all seem disconnected, emotionally.

We have sold a ton of this issue, i have to say.
Our store believes in free speech & does not agree with censorship.
We have received so many complaints & threats via phone, and it just reminds me of how many
idiots jump on the "protest" bandwagon.

One guy had the balls to say, "Next, you guys will be carrying NAMBLA publications, you disgust me!"

    My manager went, "click."
