    The Definitive Bumblebee Build Thread

I typed bumblebee into the search box the other day and hit "SEARCH", and found a bunch of threads with some Dino guy arguing with the world about what was and was not legit about the bumblebee guitar. I've never heard of said Dino, so I don't care to get back into all the fuss about if Ed liked the sound of that guitar or not. What I do want to know is, to the best of our knowledge, what was that guitar comprised of? What do you know, for sure, about the hardware on that beauty? What pickup did it have? What tremolo? What about the paint? What type? What exact hues? etc. Details, details, details. Let's put it all in one place, so that anyone looking to slap their own version of a bumblebee together will have a nice reference thread to go off of. And pictures are always welcome.

My God, Dino used to post on here regularly, and boy did he & i have a major blowout!

    It got real ugly.

He's basically a guy that had a shop, where he'd build EVH replicas (or variations of EVH replicas), sell 'em on Ebay,
get busted, then try and sell 'em again.

His work looked pretty nice, though i'm not sure what parts he used.
The paint job looked decent, at least.

Yeah, he was a regular on here, in the hey day.

I loved the bumblebee, so his act to annoy me, would be him constantly bringing up the idea
that Ed hated the way the bumblebee sounded.
Then he'd start calling me "Julie", like another guy on here.

He claimed he had lots of respect for me on here, until i turned into a dick.

I've read several of Din's old posts in the Guitar Room forums .
Seems like he really knew his stuff !
"There's a little bit of Van Halen in everyone ..."
    "Who Dares , Wins ..."
"Van Halen was never about the singer ..."

Your avatar (signature pic?) makes you my hero. But I do miss 'ole Dino. His star replica was perfect.

    Which pic?

The VHII/Ed one, or the Taylor Vixen one?

I miss Dino, too, because we did get along in the beginning.
He made a camouflage version of the Frankenstein guitar, and it looked pretty cool!
Who was the other builder, who posted on here?
There was this really talented guy who built like Blue & white Frankies, and had a business, like Dino.

yeah I still chat with ole Dino once in a while. He and I go back and forth on the replicas too. He did have a lot of information on the guitars for sure. Certainly something like replica guitars is nothing to get all worked up about as this is a hobby for guys like us and a lot of fun to boot so its too bad he got like that with you Unchained. I am one of those guys that has been in the guitar (EVH style) building for years and years and learned from some of the best guys out there but you know what? There is still info out there that I had no clue on and still to this day learn stuff I did not know from guys like Jimi and some of you others.

nice thread though..... I'll see what I can dig up on the bee gutiar too.

    Taylor Vixen.

She shot some vids out of her apartment, where she has the camera on her bed, and you
see her television, dresser, and part of her kitchen, in the background.

I injured my hand with that one...

I wanna see her straddle one of these new EVH Bumblebee guitars.

    Thanks Jimi!
That pretty much sums it up!! Great job. That's an awesome layout of info, backed with photos evidence. Good stuff!

The story about Dime was icing on the cake. I never heard that detailed of an account of how it all went down. I always just heard that Ed buried the guitar with Dime.
