Man, that version is just massive.

If someone asks me what VH is?

I will play that video with the sound cranked.
    What an ending, too!
Yes, Oakland is the measuring stick. I wish Al would go back to lighting the gong on fire...or atleast hit the damn thing a couple times during the show!

He starts the tune , and Al is just picking up the beat that is implied by his brother's intro .

It's not like Al or Dave are gonna stop the show , and tell him to tone it down a few clicks .
I dont know...I watched the Montreal vid a couple times, and it seems to me there was an ever so slight increase in the tempo once they got to the first verse, which to me was Al pushing it even faster. And that was after Ed had already played the intro too fast haha! But that's part of the VH magic. Al has said that the idea of trying to keep strict metronomic time was ridiculous to he and Ed.

It's been a while since i've seen that vid !

Have to say though , it's a funny thing that happens sometimes .
I remember a rehearsal in my band days . We we playing Mr. Crowley (with did the Tribute live version , and i threw in some of the Jake E Lee ad libs as well as a few of my own licks) and my drummer kept speeding up the tempo .

I'm no shredder , and no one wants to be the one to make the train crash so we soldiered through it ...
I gave him a scolding after we finished the song !
