It's just something i thought of when seeing the stage layout for the first time .
The whole vibe to the intro of those shows struck me as being ... retro .

    For VH fans , that's a good thing !
It gelled well with the old/new vibe of the tunes from the new album , as well as with the deep cuts that were brought into the set list .

Yeah, the intro to the show was perfect, with Al just nonchalantly sitting down without fair warning, and just hammering away.

I still dont think VH necessarily "needs" a massive, glitzed out stage production. I dont remember seeing any footage of the Who or Led Zeppelin ever having massive stage productions, and they didnt move around that much either, especially Entwistle and JPJ.

They definitely should be utilizing the big screen better, though.

Let's see what the 2013 dates have in store ...
I truly think that the guys are tuned in to chats like these , for some reason ?

After a less than stellar end to last year , i'm sure they'll want to come back with guns blazing . That could include an improved visual aspect to the shows .
The big screen is a valuable tool when used right .

    .
It can't be "Van Halen" without Roth, any more than it can be "Van Halen" without Eddie.

But, honestly, are those cool Who graphics and fancy lights really "making" the concert? Without those, as long as the band was playing well, I'd have just as fun of a time...

I don't like arena concerts, no matter who is playing, because the sound is so bad, even up close. I like small theaters (3000 or less) where it's possible to see the band member's faces, and hear them balanced and clearly. If that is the situation, I don't care at all about the staging. These larger shows are spectacles, and yes I think they need more going on.

I would like the set list to include
    Little Dreamer
    Dirty Movies
    You and your blues
in that exact order. For me personally it tells a story.Little D tells a story about a girl who wants
to become famous. Dirty M tells the story of the same girl who became a famous porn star.
YAYB's tells the story about the porn star that is now all washed up.
This is just my opinion and I have no facts to back it up.

Not to be Mr. Negative here or anything...

    BUT

Since they have only 2 shows booked for 2013 and I just don't see them doing something not already set in the auto-pilot.
