The rhythms are just so great on the old VH stuff.
Ed always played great parts for the entire song, not just the solo.
Later, he got more creative, chord-wise, but i still prefer those massive riffs and
    chords of the 78-84 era.
Ed would also decorate the riffs with weird sounds, off the cuff bits, etc.

I'm sure most will laugh, but to me this is what a state of the art stage looks like. I really wish Van Halen would take it up a notch and get creative.

It can't be "Van Halen" without Roth, any more than it can be "Van Halen" without Eddie.

Obviously, I don't think they would use that exact stage. but a Van Halenized version.
ahh fuck it, you have no imagination...

I really hope they add "_______" to the set. That would be so cool!

Honestly, it'd be cool to have train themed stage to go with album.

The more footage I see of the stage, the more disappointed I am. It's really boring, and frankly, they need more going on now because they aren't the physical performers they used to be. What I like about the stage I posted is that it adds depth to the set. They are doing really cool thing with the screens, not just projecting the band blown up extra large, and mostly in black and white. VH didn't use the big screen very imaginatively.

Well, yeah. When Iron Maiden came the stage was awesome, but Bruce and the others were flying all around in it. Even if Van Halen doesn't go all around the stage, awesome props would be cool to look at. Shit, ZZ Top usually has Girls dancing in cages at some points in their setlist.

Now THIS would actually be cool and something that would work well for them. But, in the end, I'm there to see the VHs blaze away and Dave to entertain me and make me laugh. They dont need to go overboard on a stage setup.

It looks like they went to Showco and they said, "We have Package A, which is our Econo stage. It's a black stage with minimal lights. For an extra $150 a night you get a video screen," and Van Halen said, "We'll take that." They're definitely trying to maximize profit by taking out as bare bones a production as possible. Versus the `80's when Eddie would say they poured every dime back into the show. This is where I think they don't plan on really being a fully functioning entity into the future, they just know they're about to hit 60 and it's time to ensure they can stay in quality nursing homes.
