That's the beauty of Sammy Hagar.
    He actually believed it.

It would be like Eddie Money saying he could fill the shoes vacated by Robert Plant.

According to Spam, he made them better. His delusions and ego know no bounds.

It can't be "Van Halen" without Roth, any more than it can be "Van Halen" without Eddie.

He thought he was in the same league . That takes a certain confidence , considering he was replacing THE frontman for VH .

Everyone knows i like the Sammy years for the music . Nowadays ( or since 2004 for me) Sam just reminds me of a smelly , dirty pair of cajones ...

    Yes, now I remember.
I am trying to find someone that remembers the large banners (they are on the 1981 Tour shirts) that were similar to that design. They were hung at the back of the arenas for the 1981 tour. No one seems to remember them, and I can't find any pics.

I think I know what you're talking about. Red flags? I can't find any pics, maybe in a vid?

I used to have this book:

There are lots of shots from the 1981 show in Buffalo, in this book (EVH was wearing red sweatpants, with white stripes). If anyone has it, maybe give it a looksee at some of the pics that might show the back of the arena (opposite the stage).

I knew I wasn't crazy! This guy on the Roth Army forum mentions the banners (it's post #36):

I was beginning to think it was just my imagination....
