    Tom Morello?
hmmm, to me Tom is like The Edge on steroids. They play simple riffs and add fx for texture except one plays pop rock and the other plays hard rock. What im saying is i wouldnt necessarily have him in any top 10, or even top 25 top guitar players list, and its not a knock on him really, my second favorite guitar player is James Hetfield who's just a rhythm player.

    THIS !
we know what the results will be . it's a forgone conclusion , yet people still get worked up over it . in the grand scheme of things , and taking EVERYTHING into consideration , Eddie will always be #1 in my book .
no one else will ever top him , IMO .

my 5 favs , not saying they're the 'best' . other than the first entry !!

    1- Eddie Van Halen
    2- Richie Sambora
3- Jake E. Lee/Randy Rhoads (Jake's my fav by a hair on this one )
    4- Yngwie J. Malmsteen
    5- Steve Vai

very honorable mentions go out ot George Lynch , Vitto Bratta , Mick Mars , Nuno Bettancourt and Doug Aldrich

    "Who Dares , Wins ..."
"Van Halen was never about the singer ..."

Hey Robbie, nice list. Jake will always be my favorite Ozzy-solo guitarist and Vitto and Warren DeMartini are up there for me. It goes without saying that Ed has done more for the instrument itself, even outside of playing, than anybody. Jimi didnt influence how the things were built the way Ed did. Ahh whatever, our ears know who the best is and that's all that really matters.

Proud to be an ADKOT loving, Drum Thread starting CVH "bad apple" to counterpoint pompous, self centered egotism.

    thanks JD !!

you and i both regard EVH in a similar light , so it's almost not even worth getting into debates with those who don't see or FEEL it the same way .
like a lot of the greats have often said - if it sounds good it IS good !!
