I actually still haven't bought Diary, I know that's ashamedly bad, but I'm saving it for a really bad week when I need to hear some Randy.
Just the intro is the "rip off", but i'm talking about the entire song.
The stuff in the middle, with the acoustics, are incredibly cool & moody.
And his electric tone on this thing, is just flat out crushing.
All the pieces of the song all sort of fit together, in this really brilliant way.
And the solo is like the iceing on the cake.
Meticulous.
Inspired.
Perfect.

Ready, Eddie!
Eddie is now up vs Joe Satriani. The voting is very close. Let's get out and vote for Ed (nothing against satch but Eddie is the king). Go the vhnd.com to get to the link (2nd or 3rd story down).

Nice! Ed's got 60% of the vote, even though Satch posted news of the poll on both his own and Chickenshit's facebook pages. Unfortunately, it will come down to Ed vs Jimi and the same lazy, tired result as always will occur...but that's ok, I'll take an aging EVH with a "tainted" legacy still going strong after 40 years in the business over a guy dying extremely young because of his own recklessness and reaching ridiculously mythical status.
"My favorite position for drumming was always a cigarette in one hand and a drink in the other. And checking out the women!"-Alex Van Halen
Proud to be an ADKOT loving, Drum Thread starting CVH "bad apple" to counterpoint pompous, self centered egotism.
Duct Tape:A Drummer's best friend!
I tried to go vote again and it's down. It think it's Iommi vs Lifeson now. It didn't mention if Eddie won though.

I thought that Tony would be kicking Alex's ass... Nope, he's losing. I have no idea how that happened. I love Alex, but he didn't have near the impact or influence of Tony.
Has Eddie ever beat Jimi in one of these things?
Can't believe dude from the Black Keys didn't win this.
Here's my top 5:
1. Edward Van Halen
2. Randy Rhoads
3. Nuno Bettencourt
4. Joe Perry
5. Jimmy Page
(Ace Frehley & Warren Demartini, honorable mentions)
