The vibe I get around here is that alot of you don't care for this song. I know it's pop-ish, but I like it. I feel guilty though, because it is a departure from the CVH sound. Does anyone else like this song? So I don't feel silly.

Does nothing for me when I hear it on the radio.

It's never ever made it on a home-made best of Van Halen CD and I've made many.

Also, for all the reason that will be stated.

    However....

I do love this song performed LIVE.

The crowd reaction has always been pretty cool. Everyone sings,

Funny, I don't really like it live, because I hate the pre-recorded synth. I like it better when Ed plays it live, but he only did that during the 1984 tour.

A great pop song, but I OD'd on it after a few years. I prefer 'I'll Wait' of the keyboard tunes... solid vocal from Dave on that one.

There's something about Jump that just hasn't aged as well as other pop songs. The synth is one thing but I think the chorus is the main one. It's all about a fist pumping chant. Whereas 'More Than A Feeling' just has this magic vibe that makes it timeless.
"I am not one of those weak-spirited, sappy Americans who want to be liked by all the people around them. I don’t care if people hate my guts; I assume most of them do. The important question is whether they are in a position to do anything about it. My affections, being concentrated over a few people, are not spread all over Hell in a vile attempt to placate sulky, worthless shits."

Actually no, you're wrong, but I'm not surprised because you don't pay attention. While I do think the album 1984 is superior to Diver Down, the song Jump is one of my least favorite Van Halen songs.

It's alright, but definitely in the very bottom pile of their (CVH) catalogue.

Why heck yeah! I love Jump.....I won a talent show, and I danced to 1984 and Jump (thanks Ed ). I think the reason people respond to it 'okay' nowadays, is cuz it's the 1st VH song that went to the mainstream, and went #1. It's one of those songs EVERYONE knows, whether u get VH or not.
