Thanks to Unchained's post of Schenker and DeMartini, I decided we need a thread just of unbelievable shredding.
First up, this unknown guy from Brazil. I have no idea who he is, but I'm pretty convinced he may be the best ever. Sorry, Ed, but...check out those multiple fingertaps!
I've posted this one here several times because it's so FUCKING amazing. Another Hollander like Ed, Marcel Coenen. He's a pretty big name in metal in Holland. If I had a million bucks I'd bring this guy to the USA and put him on tour and make another million.
The grandaddy of `em all. A local shredmeister told me if I hadn't heard Uli John Roth I hadn't heard anything. This guy can still play all of his early `70's shit to a tee.

When I saw Sheehan play in '06 it was in a smallish club. His bass tone was like a weapon just punching the life out of your chest. When he came in on 'Shy Boy' people were literally leaving their seats in terror. NO SHIT.Originally Posted by BadassMOFO

Hey MOFO, mate... hows ya back treatin' ya?
I went to the bonecracker and he said that I just stained my lower back but I had a few vertabrae out of joint in my middle back and he fixed that. I'm still quite sore (on and off) but on the mend though. It was bad but it could be worse.

Good to hear you're on the up, mate!
The first guy looks like the clerk at Taco Bell.
The second guy would be amazing, had Yngwie not done this back in 1985, first.
Youtube has convinced me that the pursuit of mind-blowing chops & blitzkrieg technical ability are absolutely pointless in this day & age.
There are 10 year olds playing Racer X songs!
Sure, it's incredible, but everyone seems to have the ability.
Why bother?
Songwriting seems to be the saving grace, something Ed possessed & a memorable image or look, which he also had.
A guy with a beer gut playing 64th notes will only appeal to other guys with beer guts playing 64th notes.
If i was young & hungry today, i think i'd choose the opposite path of these neoclassical purists.
I'd develop song ideas, approach things with some subtlety & attempt to be unique.
All that practice, but where does that road lead?
