am listening to VH live cover ZZTop La Grange kicks butt. if anyone wants it i'll let people download it
I was just listening to Diver Down (probably my least played VH album). I find myself putting in a VH cd alot because I'm getting sick of the new music on the radio. I've got a 50 minute commute to work so I have alot of time to listen to music and I'll be damned that I don't hear the same shit every day. The rock station in Madison, WI where I work will NOT play Van Halen. They play AC/DC, Ozzy, Guns N Roses, and Motley Crue but they won't play VH.....can you fuckin believe that?? I've called them so many times bitching and complaining but the DJs always say they can't do anything about it because their program director cut VH out of the playlist. http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...ticons/mad.gif
I've been listening to a lot of VH recently because I just bought the remasters. Also some Sammy, Montrose, and Pearl Jam. I don't have a CD in my car so I usually listen to classic rock and current rock stations. I hear the same stuff over and over, like P.O.D., Nickelback, and Metallica.
Hmm, I'm not sure if I should move this to House of Music, but it does have some VH content so I guess I'll leave it here.
i'm listening to a lot of stuff right now. as i type, i've got PYT my michael jackson playing. http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...cons/smile.gif
also, the eric clapton unplugged cd, and some solo guitar work by various people too.
and i already listened to WACF today, so i've got lotsa stuf going. http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...cons/smile.gif
So far today I've listened to Frank Zappa's Freak Out! and Does Humour Belong in Music? a;bums, as well as Setzer's '68 Comeback Special, disc 2 of Satriani live in san Fran, and the Rocky Horror Picture Show Soundtrack.
Currently though, my most listened to stuff is the 7 cds worth of VH I got in that trade, Gary Hoey mp3's (thanks NE169!), Blackmore's Night (VERY COOL) and any Steve Morse I can get my hands on.
I've been trying to listen to some newer stuff lately, Union Underground, Offspring, Disturbed, Rob Zombie although I haven't gotten his latest yet. * http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...s/confused.gif

http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...icons/wink.gif Anytime, GF!
Currently I'm in one of those moods, so I got Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classics (South Park). Mr .Garrison's Merry Fuckin' Christmas is a riot!
I'll probably dig up AC/DC's Mistress For Christmas, too! http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...ons/tounge.gif
HOT FOR TEACHER It gets me going everytime!! I even made a Winamp skin called Hot For Teacher. ROCK ON... ITS CHRISTMAS VACATIONWHOAAAAAAA
Im currently abstaining from commercial music while we write new stuff. We don't want our songs riddled with top 40 essence, so all outside influence has been halted, lol.
Im listening to scratch tracks of a new tune we are writing called "War Machine".
Definately influenced by Sept.11th, the song is basically a reminder that war is war and we should never assume victory comes without a tremedous human cost.
But on an editorial type note, the one thought that puzzles me about terrorists and the things they do for god. One question keeps popping into my head.
"Why do they think God even needs their help battling evil, I mean he is God right?"

I think the same thing when athletes say in interviews that they give credit to God when they're victorious. http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...ticons/sad.gif
What about when they're on the losing side--did God forsake them for some reason? http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...s/confused.gif
Like God plays favorites?!!?
i always lose. looks like i'm not one of god's fave's. http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...icons/wink.gif
Being an Atheist, I don't have to worry about whether or not "God" favours me. http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...ns/biggrin.gif
As was so brilliantly said in Calvin and Hobbes "It's hard to be religious when certain people are never incinerated by bolts of lightning" (i.e. Osama bin Laden)
On second thought, I think I'll move this to House Of Music since most of the content it about music in general. http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...cons/smile.gif
yeah, i'm atheist as well. i don't feel guilty for celebrating xmas though, because there's so much more to it than that.
anyway, calvin and hobbes is the shit!
oh yeah, and back on topic... i blasted some houses of the holy today, great album. http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...cons/smile.gif
also i whipped out rush - chronicles. awesome stuff. i think rush is the best band to come out of canada, no contest, although my dad thinks the guess who is. to each their own i guess. i like them too. http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...cons/smile.gif

I just listened to that the other night. The only song that I don't really like is The Crunge, but everything else is great. http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...cons/smile.gif

I'll Say! Man, you should see my room if your into Zeppelin: I've got yer Stairway to Heaven poster staring me in the face whenever I go to bed, a poster of a Live Concert above that, another poster with the band member's faces on the wall in back of my bed (underneath a Beatles poster), three GuitarWorld Posters scattered around the walls, a drawing of Jimmy Page I did in art class 2 years ago, and finally, a subway poster of the Houses of The Holy album cover on my ceiling. Lots o' Zep in my room.

that's impressive. i have a stairway to heaven poster on my door. it was given to me by a friend of mine who i'm totally in love with, but alas, she goes to school some 3000 kms away from me. http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...ticons/sad.gif
That's a bummer man. You should write a song about it!
Oh yeah, my Christmas haul for this year as far as music goes:
Boston - Boston, and Third Stage
Frank Zappa - Strictly Commercial
Deep Purple - Deep Purple
Dream Theatre - Scenes from a Memory Pt. 2 (video)
My fave : the Boston debut album. I can't get enough of that song, "Peace of Mind". Third stage has some cool sounds on it, but the eighties drums bog it down. The Zappa's pretty cool. The Deep Purple is WEIRD. First I've heard of the original lineup. More Psychedelic-sounding than Machinehead...
The only cd i got for christmas is from my grandma but i have 30 dollars and i'm going to buy a couple vh cds baby!!
I GOT VAN HALEN 1 FROM GRANDMA.!!! i'm thinking of getting VH2 and my dad says i have to wait (i dont know why) for another one... I will get Fair Warning. http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...cons/smile.gifhttp://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...cons/smile.gifhttp://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...cons/smile.gif
Actually, my dad wants me to get them from Colombia house, so i can get all of the DLR 6 for the price of one..I just dont want to wait long. Should i buy from there is get one from the store?
Right now I'm listening to Ozzy's "No Rest For The Wicked," the first album with Zakk Wylde. I think it kicks ass.
My friend got VH1 on vinyl for $5! Pissed me off!
I thinkk I'll be going on a spending spree tomorrow though....

Columbia house??
That would be a major surprise if they still carried VH. http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...ticons/wow.gif
I know they categorize types of music, but I can't imagine them having more than 2 VH titles.
They're good for getting a bunch of titles for cheap, but once the obligation's finished, cancel it.
IMO, you're better off going to a store.
http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...ns/biggrin.gif I've been spending more & more time at the 2nd hand cd store...they let you listen before you buy and you don't end up coughing up as much dough as retail...usually no more than $9 a pop.
yeah, amen to the second hand store. they're awesome. i picked up some stuff that i never thought i'd find there, so i always give props to them. http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...cons/smile.gif
i walked in there and to my happy surprise they had ALAE and YFLM in stock, and since they don't even print those anymore, i was happy. http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...cons/smile.gif
These days I've been listening to mid-80s Iron Maiden, and currently have Live After Death in the car.
I got the Number Of The Beast DVD a week ago or so, that's why I'm on this Maiden kick. The damn DVD player sucks ass, and played only the first part of it--gotta get a new one. I also couldn't find my NOTB CD either in the basement--can't believe I got rid of it.
Just bought both of Godsmack's albums. I like the self-titled one better but Awake is awesome, too. I've been looking around for Led Zeppelin's Coda, but I haven't had any luck. http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...s/confused.gif
what does IMO mean...?? They carry VH, REMASTERS! I also got OU812. it says that it has Parental Advisory, whats up with that. ?? Someone say...please. Just downloaded this Stairway To Heaven Video. It Rocks. Anyone seen it? http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...ons/tounge.gif IS OU812 like Oh You Eight One Two *http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...s/confused.gif Or Oh You Ate One Too??? Imy dad said it was O U eight One Too. I thought it was OU eight twelve..
Mean Street, IMO means in my opinion. I don't know why OU812 would have a Parental Advisory sticker on it, must be a mistake.
Are you talking about the Stairway video from The Song Remains The Same? It's pretty cool. http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...cons/smile.gif
OU812 means "Oh, you ate one too?" I used to think it was O U 8 twelve also.

Look for it on Vinyl, man! I got my copy for $2.50! And blastin' out of a record player, it just WHOMPS! The drums and bass sound ENORMOUS! Actually, all of my Zep is on vinyl, minus BBC Sessions and Best of Vol.1. http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...ns/biggrin.gif
Oh yeah, I also picked up a Dixie Dregs album, The Who's Who's Next, Aerosmith's Live Bootleg, a John McLaughlin and quite possibly the most horrificly 80's thing I've ever seen, Candy Roxx's Sex and Leather. These are all on LP. The last one was a "gift" to me for X-mas from my cousin. I returned the favour with a "Metal Meltdown" CD, but I lost out in the war of evil christmas presents this year. I'll have to get him Christina Aguilara's Christmas Album next year to even the score...
here in northern michigan, they have used records for 25cents, they had VH but it was new. It was like 99c. I think. And I keep seeing the word "Circa" what is that ? My dad got out his records yesterday. I found some PYROMANIA, the doors, LED ZEPPELIN UNITITLED, LZ 3, HOUSES OF THE HOLY, I wish the record player had a needle. My dad said hes not going to buy a new one. No VH though, I found some Black Sabbath, and Ozzy, the one where No Rest For The Wicked or something. Laner said something about it I think.

it was a response dave's eat em and smile album. http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...cons/smile.gif
I got the new Nickleback and Linkin Park CD's for christmas and they are not bad at all really. But damn where is that feel music use to give me?.
todays music has a comatose feel to it as far as im concerned, and alot of the bands sound alike.......Dead or waiting to Die............http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...ticons/sad.gif
yeah like scott stapp in creed almost sounds like collective soul and Staind. They have the same kind of singing IMO! They just sound together, so you know what i mean? see ya
War Machine is done except for some polish on it,lol.
I am currently derailed on an idea i had that just came to me, I am calling this one "Get off the fucking road" in print it will be simply "Get Off", lmmfao.
This new one gives me chills man, it has a Gothic feel to it and a nasty drive that screams, well, "Get off the fucking road". Most likely my favorite piece ever and im doing the vocals in the studio before my voice is gone completely.
Im sorry to go on and on but damn im excited about this new project. It seems to be working super smooth..........
Cathedral buddy, please send me a sample of your new music and I'll promote the hell out of it on this site. "The next coming of ...Van Halen, with the flamboyant lead singer......Cathedral!!!!"......I can see it now... http://www.classicvanhalen.com/iB_ht...ns/biggrin.gif
